Presidential Election Calendar (2012)
Primary Elections
- To vote in the primary election, you must register, with party affiliation, by Tuesday, March 13, 9:00 PM. To check your registration status, and to find your polling location, go to the Maryland Elections Center website.
- Primary Election Early Voting Dates: Saturday, March 24 through March 29, 10AM-8PM except noon-6PM on Sunday, March 25. Early voting ends on March 29, 8PM.
- Primary Election Day: Tuesday, April 3, 7AM-8PM
- Election Certification: Friday, April 13
- Certification of State/Local Ballot Questions: Monday, August 20
General Election
- To vote in the general election, you must register to vote by Tuesday, October 16, 9:00 PM. To check your registration status, and to find your polling location, go to the Maryland Elections Center website.
- General Election Early Voting Dates: Saturday, October 27, through November 1, 10AM-8PM, except noon-6PM on Sunday, October 28. Early voting ends on November 1, 8PM.
- General Election Day: Tuesday, November 6, 7AM-8PM.
- Election Certification: Friday, November 16
- Presidential Electors Meet: Monday, December 17
Absentee Ballot
- To request an absentee ballot application, go to Maryland Elections Center onlline, or go to the Board of Elections office in Winchester Hall, Frederick City.
- The deadline for having your application for absentee ballot in the hands of the Board of Elections office (Winchester Hall) is March 28 for the Primary Election, and October 31 for the General Election.
