Register to Vote

To check to make sure you are registered to vote, to find your polling place, or to change your address, visit the University of Maryland Election Center website.

To register to vote in Frederick County, you must meet the following requirements:   

  • Resident of Frederick County
  • United States Citizen
  • At least 16 years of age (you may register to vote at 16 but cannot vote until at least 18 years of age by the date of the next general or special election)  
  • Not disqualified as outlined by Maryland State law

To register to vote, a resident must complete a Voter Registration Form and return it to the Board of Elections office. There are several ways to obtain the form:

  • Call 301-600-VOTE to request an application be mailed to you;
  • Visit the Board of Elections office at Winchester Hall, 12 East Church Street in the City of Frederick to pick up an application.  Hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Pick up an application at the county libraries, Motor Vehicle Administration, Post Offices, public high schools, Frederick Community College, or the County Courthouse.
  • Pick up an application from voter registration tables at events in Frederick County.
  • Download an application from the State of Maryland Board of Elections web site. [Link to form]
